KCRW's Soundtrack to Frieze Los Angeles 2024

The iconic Los Angeles radio station has released its soundtrack to this year's fair

KCRW has released its annual soundtrack to Frieze Los Angeles. Imagined by Program Director Anne Litt, this year's selection is inspired by Alma Thomas's painting Deep Red Roses (1972) at Michael Rosenfeld (booth A16) and includes over 40 tracks, including songs by Odetta, Slowdive and Little Simz.

Litt said: “No piece of art took me in more today that Alma Thomas’s Deep Red Roses Chant (1972). Born in 1891, Thomas was in her late 70s when she painted this work. I discovered her today and have since been down a rabbit hole looking at more of her work. This playlist was inspired not just by her, but by the passion, pain, enthusiasm, fear, serenity, textures and music. When I’m lucky enough to attend an art fair like Frieze (or an artist’s studio, gallery or show) I hear the artwork as much as I see it. This is but a brief and incomplete representation of that magic.”
