This year’s jury comprised Katherine Brodbeck (Hoffman Family senior curator of contemporary art at the Dallas Museum of Art), Pablo Leon de la Barra (Curator at large for Latin America at the Solomon R. About Mitre Galeria’s Focus Presentation

Luana Vitra’s sculptures, ceramics and works on paper respond to the landscape of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil. Featuring works from her series ‘The Beads of My Rosary Are Artillery Bullets’, ‘Giro’, ‘Abraçadeiras’, ‘Amulets’ – also on view at New York’s Sculpture Center – and ‘Vanishing with a Blow or Furrow of the Ground’, Vitra’s solo project at Frieze New York reflects on the physical, sociopolitical and spiritual significance of iron and soot.

Find Luana Vitra’s work at Mitra Galeria, Stand F1, at Frieze New York 2025, and on the Frieze Viewing Room, until 16 May.
