Simon Castets, Director of the Swiss Institute in New York along with collector, Alexandra Economou, will be in conversation with Ali Subotnick, Adjunct Curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. The three speakers will discuss their views on collecting and supporting the next generation of artists through both institutional and individual patronage.

Simon Castets
Simon Castets has championed emerging artists throughout his career as an independent curator, and, most recently, as the Director of the Swiss Institute in New York. He has curated shows for the Palais de Tokyo, Karma International and Taka Ishii, and his writings have been featured in Flash Art, ArtForum, and Kaleidoscope. He is overseeing the relocation and expansion of the Swiss Institute to its new East Village location in the Spring of 2018.

Alexandra Economou
An avid patron of the arts, Alexandra Economou is on the Board of Directors of Triple Canopy, and actively supports the Swiss Institute and the Guggenheim. She is a collector and has recently curated the group show Inside Out at Eva Presenhuber Gallery in Zurich.

Ali Subotnick
Ali Subotnick is the Curator for Frieze Los Angeles and Adjunct Curator at the Hammer Museum, where she organized the exhibitions UH-OH: Frances Stark 1991 – 2015 (2015), The Afghan Carpet Project (2015), Mark Leckey: On Pleasure Bent (2013), LLYN FOULKES (2013), and Nine Lives: Visionary Artists from L.A.
