Digital Event - Vintage Galéria: Andreas Fogarasi in conversation with Marlies Wirth (Curator at MAK, Vienna)

Virtual Studio Visit

6th October 2020
5pm - 6pm BST, 6pm - 7pm CET

Please join us for a virtual studio visit of Andreas Fogarasi in conversation with Marlies Wirth (Curator at MAK, Vienna)

In a dialogue tour of his Vienna studio, artist Andreas Fogarasi (b. Vienna, 1977) will be showing current works in progress and talk about his artistic practice and thought process, past and upcoming projects.

Fogarasi’s studio practice merges documentary and sculptural strategies. Through his videos, photographs, installations and sculptures – informed by Minimal and Conceptual Art as much as by architectural thinking – Fogarasi explores the act of showing, representations of power and identity in public space, and the relationship between culture and collective memory.

Andreas Fogarasi (b. Vienna, 1977) lives in Vienna. His work has been presented at numerous groups exhibitions at institutions such as the MUMOK, Vienna; Museo Tamayo, Mexico City; Ludwig Museum, Budapest; New Museum, New York; Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf; Muzej suvremene umjetnosti, Zagreb; CAC, Vilnius; Frankfurter Kunstverein; and Palais de Tokyo, Paris. His solo exhibitions include Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2019); Georg Kargl Fine Arts, Vienna (2017); Proyectos Monclova, Mexico City (2016); MAK Center, Los Angeles (with Oscar Tuazon); Galeria Vermelho, São Paulo; Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig; Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich (2014); Prefix ICA, Toronto (2012); Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid (2011); Ludwig Forum, Aachen (2010); Lombard-Freid Projects, New York; and in the Hungarian pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007), where his work Kultur und Freizeit [Culture and Leisure] earned him the Golden Lion for the best national participation. His exhibition „MI” (together with Christian Kosmas Mayer), is currently on view at Vintage Galéria, Budapest.
