Los Angeles | Studio Visit with Jackie Amézquita

June, 2025
Inglewood, California

Join Frieze 91 for an exclusive studio visit with multidisciplinary artist Jackie Amézquita, whose practice explores memory, migration, and material histories through the use of biomaterials and pre-Columbian forms. Based in Los Angeles, Amézquita has exhibited at institutions such as The Hammer Museum, LACE, and The Armory Center for the Arts, and was recently awarded the Mohn Public Recognition Award (2023).

Most recently, Amézquita’s work was featured at Frieze Los Angeles 2025 as part of Frieze Projects, where she created a large-scale immersive installation reflecting on migration, environmental transformation, and ancestral narratives. Through her use of organic materials like corn, lava rock, and cochineal, her work embodies cycles of decay and regeneration—central themes in her artistic exploration.

This intimate visit offers Frieze 91 members a rare opportunity to step inside Amézquita’s Inglewood studio, hear firsthand about her evolving practice, and gain insight into her recent projects.
