Monique Péan, natural fancy brownish greenish yellow square diamond vessel earrings, recycled platinum, 2018.
Join Monique Péan at her studio in SoHo to discover the story behind her sustainable fine jewelry and object practice that explores sculpture, spatiality and materiality through manipulated forms. Highlighting culture, temporality and global environmental issues through art and design, Péan’s work features responsibly gathered ancient materials such as fossilized dinosaur bone, fossilized walrus ivory and extraterrestrial materials in the form of meteorite. Péan is known for her structural one-of-a-kind pieces and unique materials that create portals for meaningful conversations about sustainability, the environment and global communities.
Monique Péan launched her eponymous socially responsible and environmentally conscientious fine jewelry and object practice in 2006. Each piece is handcrafted in New York City through the exclusive use of sustainable materials sourced globally through fair trade initiatives. In addition to supporting the arts, proceeds from sales contribute to global philanthropic organizations, which provide clean drinking water and basic sanitation to people in developing countries.
