What is the relationship between frieze magazine and the Frieze Fairs?
The fairs and magazines were both launched by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover. frieze magazine was founded, in 1991, by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover with the artist Tom Gidley. When the magazine began both Sharp and Slotover served as editors, but ceased direct involvement in editorial decisions in 2001.
Sharp and Slotover maintain the overall direction of the art fairs and magazines, but editorial decisions are made by Editorial Director of frieze magazine Jennifer Higgie and fair decisions are made by Director of Frieze Fairs Victoria Siddall. The fairs and frieze magazine share offices in London and New York and administration, communications and accounts personnel.
