Titled Erratic, the artist’s playlist is meant to loop on shuffle until you can’t listen to it any longer

I create playlists for atmosphere, best played on shuffle, to be listened to over a long lazy day or returned to repeatedly for weeks. The list ends after you’ve heard each song way too many times. That could take a long while on shuffle. The ‘profane illumination’ that occurs between and among cuts will renew interest and reinvent each song many times over. The principles and parameters of this large collection will become apparent, rewarding each listener’s commitment to the list…until it gives no more.
An interview with the artist appears in frieze issue 249. Gregg Bordowitz’s ‘This is Not a Love Song’ is on view at The Brick, Los Angeles, until 22 March and ‘There: a Feeling’ is on view at Camden Arts Centre, London, until 23 March
