Launched in 2019 as part of the University of Brighton, Brighton CCA is a centre for contemporary arts, free and open to all, hosting world class exhibitions, projects, commissions and research by international emerging and established artists. Responsive to our context within an art school, our focus is on supporting the development of artists’ practice and practice based research; nurturing cross disciplinary dialogue and placing the resources of the University at the disposal of artists and audiences.
The programme is presented across the newly refurbished galleries and Sallis Benney Theatre at the University’s landmark Grand Parade site, enhancing the reputation of the University and the city as a centre for creativity and innovation. Brighton CCA is a site for experimentation and collaboration building relationships with partners and audiences locally, nationally and internationally to create opportunities for discovery and participation through events, publications, talks and screenings. The ethos of the organisation speaks to the value of practical research, learning through making and creating a democratic space for culture.
