Editorial Assistant

Frieze is a media and events company that comprises three publications, frieze magazine, Frieze Masters Magazine and Frieze Week; and five international art fairs, Frieze London, Frieze LA, Frieze New York, Frieze Seoul (launching September 2022) and Frieze Masters; regular talks and summits, led by frieze editors; and frieze.com – the definitive resource for contemporary art and culture.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Researching and sourcing images for frieze, Frieze Week, Frieze Masters and frieze.com. Liaising with galleries, studios, picture libraries and photographers for images in collaboration with the Editorial Trainee
• Attending and contributing to editorial meetings and taking minutes
• Uploading new content to frieze.com with special attention to SEO standards and images metadata
• Helping to maintain the website archive and ensuring the homepage slideshow is up to date
• Producing regular round-up pieces for frieze.com of articles and reviews from around the world
• Captioning images, adding courtesies, pull-quotes, decks and titles in collaboration with other editorial staff
• Proofreading the print issue to check for accuracy and consistency with Frieze’s house style and to ensure there are no formatting or typographical errors
• Responding to general enquiries from the public and monitoring the inbox
• Working across the content division to help produce ambitious, collaborative editorial projects
• Image research, captioning and uploading content for Frieze Week and Frieze Masters magazines, in collaboration with the Frieze Studios team
• Assisting with live and online events (sometimes out of regular office hours) and producing editorial write-ups as required
• Producing regular newsletters for subscribers in collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief and Web Coordinator
• Providing general ad-hoc support to print and digital

Knowledge and Experience
• Some experience in arts, culture and news publications
• A strong, demonstrable commitment to the arts around the world
• Acute attention to detail, veracity and quality
• A desire to work regularly with colleagues seated in multiple time-zones
• Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop and Microsoft systems, including Teams, Outlook, Word etc.
• Mailchimp, copyediting and proofreading experience

Working Conditions
• This is a fixed term position.
• The role is based in Surrey Street, London.
• Working hours are 10:00 – 18:00, Monday to Friday.
• Occasional travel and weekend work may be required.
