Rare and unseen footage traces a lineage of protest movements to abandoned warehouse raves, in artist Jeremy Deller’s Everybody In the Place: An Incomplete History of Britain 1984-1992.

The film situates illegal raves and acid house at the very centre of the social changes upending the 1980s. We see how rave culture owes as much to the Battle of Orgreave as it does to the gay clubs of Chicago or the discovery of ecstasy.

Everybody in The Place: An Incomplete History of Britain 1984-1992 is available on BBC iPlayer.

This is the second of a four-part film project by Frieze and Gucci, Second Summer of Love, which delves into the enduring impact and international explosion of electronic music and youth culture.
