Frieze London is ‘a mirror to the whole art world. It’s my ultimate joyful week of the year,’ says ICA director Bengi Unsal. As the art world assembles in the city, hear from artists, curators, directors and exhibitors – both new and long-time – defining this year’s fair.

Gallery presentations such as Portas Vilaseca’s solo show by Antonio Pichillá at the fair’s entrance (the gallery’s London debut), Luís Lázaro Matos’s playful telling of the life of Benny the beluga in Focus with Galeria Madragoa and Alberto Pitta’s monumental silkscreen hangings, shown with Nara Roesler in Echoes in the Present, all shape the fair’s innovative and global identity. ‘There’s a lot of energy,’ says gallerist Tommaso Corvi-Mora, reflecting on 23 years exhibiting at Frieze London. ‘There are so many new galleries and that has brought a real breath of fresh air. The spirit of London is working together on something.’
