Vadehra Art Gallery: Biraaj Dodiya and Gieve Patel: Due to an obscure reason
Vadehra Art Gallery is pleased to present a two-person exhibition by Mumbai-based artist Biraaj Dodiya and the late contemporary artist Gieve Patel (1940-2023) – curated by London-based Linsey Young, curator of the recent acclaimed exhibition Women in Revolt! Art, Activism and the Women’s Movement in the UK 1970-1990 at Tate Britain, London. In this exhibition, Dodiya presents a collection of paintings and vessel-like sculptures that enlist the body in its encounters, while Patel’s paintings explore the psycho-social vagaries and complexities of the individual tied to the contemporary theatre of self and community.
Jhaveri Contemporary: Muhanned Cader, Lubna Chowdhary, and Seher Shah: Horizons
Jhaveri Contemporary return to No.9 Cork Street with Horizons, a group exhibition in which Muhanned Cader, Lubna Chowdhary, and Seher Shah explore, both formally and thematically, variations of line, landscape and the built environment. With distinct individual practices, the three artists share a commitment to making, relying on the intimacy of hand and an engagement with materials and process. They approach the idea of horizons metaphorically, as boundary and threshold, probing the limits of knowledge as well as notions of interconnection and interdependence.
