The French artist discusses video games, cars and healing processes ahead of BMW Open Work 2023
Speaking from Marseille, Sara Sadik introduces her practice and the multi-faceted commission she is creating for BMW Open Work 2023. Surrounded by the objects and books she draws inspiration from, Sadik discusses how her project emerged from conversations with the MyModes and the AirConsole teams at BMW.
The commission continues the artist’s ongoing research into the changing emotional states of adult and young men. Hosted at KOKO during Frieze London 2023, the work is two-fold, presented as an interactive video game playable in the BMW i5 electric car and as a film which will be viewable from outside the Camden theatre. When discussing her chosen title for the project LA POTION (EH), Sadik mentions the importance of using the word ‘potion'. ‘Because it refers to healing’ she says, ‘and it also has this fantasy spirit within it.’
All Frieze ticket holders will be able to access to the BMW Lounge at The House of KOKO to view and learn even more about this year's commission.
