Join 18th Street Arts Center for a private viewing and reception of Ranu Mukherjee: Dear Future at our Airport Campus, located across of Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport.
The experience begins with a talk and tour of the exhibition by Mukherjee, followed by a presentation of Ensemble for Non Linear Time, a site-specific choreographed performance created by Mukherjee and choreographer Hope Mohr.
Dear Future, the San Francisco-based artist’s first solo exhibition in LA, contemplates forests as sites of survival, biodiversity, non-human agency, indigenous struggle, and interspecies communication. In her speculative process, an emergent urban forest connects visions of an ecological future with histories of colonization and the lush internal spaces of longing, desire, and the imagination.
Following the reception, guests are encouraged to tour open studios. 18th Street Arts Center’s Airport Campus is home to over 30 local artists’ day studios, with a variety of art forms and practices.
COVID-19 policy: To prioritize the wellbeing of our community, we respectfully require masks to be used in our galleries. Complimentary masks will be available on-site.
