Ruinart and Frieze announce today a new artistic initiative, the R.U.in.ART Performance, which will be presented at Frieze Los Angeles 2019. Working together, Ruinart and Frieze have selected Los Angeles-based artist, Emily Mast, to create a performance piece inside the Ruinart lounge as part of the fair’s backlot program.

The R.U.in.ART Performance aims to reinforce and celebrate Ruinart’s commitment to the arts, and to the thriving Los Angeles scene by engaging all fairgoers with an immersive and original experience by a local artist.

Taking inspiration from the idea of a celebratory “champagne moment”, Mast has created a new commission which challenges the way we interact with art.

The R.U.in.ART Performance strives to enhance the partnership between Frieze and Ruinart, whilst highlighting both brands’ commitment to collaborating with emerging artists and enabling them to create new work.

Mast has staged “choreographed exhibitions” and presented live performances at various venues including: The LUMA Foundation, Arles, France (2018); Human Resources, Los Angeles (2018); FRAC Occitanie Montpellier, France (2017); Grazer Kunstverein, Graz, Austria (2017); The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2017); the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto (2016); La Ferme du Buisson, Noisiel (2015); China Art Objects Galleries, Los Angeles (2015); Mona Bismarck American Center, Paris (2015); Silencio, Paris (2015); the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (2014); The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2014); Night Gallery, Los Angeles (2014); Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Project Space, New York (2013); Simone Subal Gallery, New York (2013); the Galeria Luisa Strina in Sao Paolo, Brazil (2013); Public Fiction, Los Angeles (2012); REDCAT, Los Angeles (2012) and Performa, New York (2009).
