Online VIP Program: Peter Saul at the New Museum

An opportunity for Frieze VIPs to take a virtual tour of the New Museum's current exhibition

in Frieze | 29 APR 20

Take a virtual tour of the New Museum's current exhibition "Peter Saul: Crime and Punishment" narrated by the artist in his own words and Gary Carrion-Murayari, Kraus Family Curator.

Explore the installation of more than sixty paintings created from the 1960s through  the present,  and take an adventure through Saul's lens on American history.  His work connects to the Surrealist landscapes of Salvador Dalí and Roberto Matta, and to the biting political caricatures of artists such as Francisco Goya and William Hogarth. Often championed by West Coast artists like Mike Kelley and Jim Shaw, Saul’s work, pushed for so long to the margins of the art world, now proves to be a perfect expression of our horrific present.

This digital tour was produced by Gesso and is available on their the innovative mobile app, a platform making more culture accessible by centralizing museum guides, site-specific podcasts, official audio guides, and creative walking tours. Gesso was developed by members of NEW INC, the New Museum's cultural incubator dedicated to supporting innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship across art, design, and technology.
