Hosted in collaboration with Kiaf SEOULKorea Arts Management Service (KAMS), and Frieze Seoul, the talks program features an ambitious agenda reflecting on some of the most salient issues in the international art world today. Designed to both create and strengthen relationships between artists, writers, and cultural leaders, the talks program aims to cultivate new ideas through active debate.

Led by Leeum's curator Serena Sungah CHOO, Amsterdam and Seoul-based artist Mire Lee and London and Shanghai- based curator, and writer Alvin Li will discuss Lee's artistic practice.

Moderator: CHOO, Sungah Serena

CHOO is a curator and writer. She gained her unique and dynamic point of view from her past curatorial career experiences at Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) and dedicated 7 years as an independent curator at the non-profit sector curating various shows combining both philanthropic and commercial aspects.

Panel: Lee, Mire

Lee Mire is based in Seoul and Amsterdam. She utilizes industrial and mechanical materials, such as cement, resin, steel, plaster, and scaffolding, to create sculptures that unveil the materials’ physical characteristics, textures, and mechanical movement. By blurring the boundaries between the exterior and the interior, as well as the skin and internal organs, her sculptures evoke both primitive and sophisticated machine mechanisms.

Panel: Alvin Li

Alvin Li is a writer and curator based in London, where he serves as Adjunct Curator, Greater China, supported by the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation, at Tate. He was Contributing Editor of Frieze magazine, and was Artistic Advisor of the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.
