Join independent curator Myriam Ben Salah and USC geoscientist Amanda Godbold for an interdisciplinary conversation around Cyprien Gaillard’s latest exhibition at Sprüth Magers, Reefs to Rigs. The exhibition includes new wall-based limestone sculptures, encrusted with fossils and mounted to aluminum panels, as well as the artist’s most recent film Ocean II Ocean, which premiered at the 2019 Venice Biennale. Gaillard’s new bodies of work look past the confines of human time frames toward the deep time of geological consciousness, considering a past that extends far beyond human existence, and perhaps a future that does as well.
