Welcome to The Hop Square Performance Programme
Presented by Pi Artworks. Curated by Jyll Bradley
Generously supported by VADA.
The Hop (2022) is a large, interactive sculpture by artist Jyll Bradley originally commissioned by the Hayward Gallery, London. The Hop resembles an ancient plant growing structure - a hop garden- and is also a place, inviting creative engagement. After a highly successful year on the Southbank, it was hoped to bring The Hop to Frieze Sculpture, however, this has not been possible. Instead, we are transforming its chosen site in Regent’s Park into The Hop Squareand evoking the themes and spirit of the sculpture as a catalyst for exciting performance and activation.
The Hop Square will host the following performances. Free and suitable for all:
11-15 October. Every day at 4pm. The performances last approx. 15 mins.
Abstract Benna, The Poet Laureate of Lambeth, performs his evocative storytelling-through-verse inspired by The Hop and its themes of harvest, community and memory. Originally supported by The Southbank Centre. www.abstractbenna.com
