About the Work
Surreal and near-psychedelic in form, this film traces how a community navigates the overlapping pressures of missionary-Christian morality and settler-colonial law, where ancestral belief systems persist beneath imposed codes of conduct.
The 13th Seoul Mediacity Biennale (SMB13) × Frieze Film Seoul 2025
The 13th Seoul Mediacity Biennale presents a special screening program curated by artistic directors Anton Vidokle, Hallie Ayres and Lukas Brasiskis for Frieze Film Seoul 2025. The screenings will take place on the rooftop of Seoul Museum of Art and feature a selection of artists’ films that converge spiritual, mystical, and magical forces on the screen in ways that change our understanding of everyday life. Composed in four chapters - Harmony, Reclaiming, Communion, and Waking Dreams - the screening programme will be accompanied by introductions by the artistic directors and a reception on the programme’s opening day.
