Les Enluminures is an internationally recognized leader in the field of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, miniatures, and finger rings. Dr. Sandra Hindman, an expert on medieval and Renaissance manuscript illumination and Professor Emerita at Northwestern University, founded Les Enluminures in Paris in 1991 in association with her Chicago-based business. The New York City location opened in May 2012. Clients include the J. Paul Getty Museum, National Gallery of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, British Library, and others. The gallery is well-known for the level of its scholarship but also for the diversity, high quality, and provenance of the works it offers for sale.
In addition to exhibiting at Frieze Masters London, Frieze Seoul, TEFAF Maastricht, and the Winter Show, Les Enluminures publishes frequent scholarly catalogues (most recently ‘The Ideal Past: Revival Jewels’, December 2021, ‘Simon Bening and the Enríquez de Ribera Prayerbook’, September 2021, ‘Living Nobly: Jewelry of the Renaissance Courts’, February 2020) and presents themed exhibitions.
