Established in 2002, Vermelho encourages new ideas and art production by both emerging and established latin american artists. The gallery hosts two main exhibition rooms, one sculpture / installation terrace, a restaurant, Tijuana stand (artist book publisher), and a multi-task gallery façade that has served as support to over a 100 works.
Vermelho supports systematic encounters of artists, curators and the general public through exhibitions, book launches and the annual performance festival, Verbo which currently includes parallell programming in the cities of São Paulo, Fortaleza and São Luiz.
Vermelho represents a diverse cast of latin american artists, such as Rosângela Rennó, Dora Longo Bahia, Carlos Motta, Claudia Andujar, Dias & Riedweg, Carmela Gross, sided with a new generation of artists like Clara Ianni, Marcelo Cidade, André Komatsu, Carla Zaccagnini, Iván Argote, Tania Candiani and Detanico & Lain, amongst others.
