Pioneering Conceptual artist John Latham (1921–2006) remains a vital force and inspiration. Preoccupied with time, he was visionary in mapping systems of knowledge, whether scientific or religious. Following a celebration of his workat the Serpentine Galleries in London last year, as well as his participation in the 2017 Venice Biennale, the exhibition at Lisson Gallery will be Latham’s first ever gallery show in New York and his first in the United States since 1996. Through installation and floor-based works, the exhibition will showcase Latham’s extraordinary practice alongside his lasting legacy as an artist and thinker, as well as his abiding contributions to developments in Conceptual art.
