The Showroom Mural Commission invites artists to activate the building's facade. Simnikiwe Buhlungu’s year-long project, Notes to Self: A Mixtapenyana, references strolling as a form of knowledge production and uses text, textile and interactive sound installations to communicate ideas of gathering through a call and response with local communities. Em’kal Eyongakpa presents Tahjèsè #3i / barɨŋ báchɔ́kɔrɔk #4, his first solo commission in the UK. This immersive environment forms part of an ongoing series of installations, live sonic sketches, processions and kinetic sound sculptures exploring portals, crossings and the role of water in relation to resistance movements from the Gulf of Guinea and beyond.
